Mrs Kimber reported on the weekend’s Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice trip: ‘A group 63 apprehensive, but excited Fourth Form students headed out on their first unaccompanied expedition. The weather was exceptionally kind to them and, although navigation was not spot on, all groups managed to make their way to Herons Way campsite near Tilford. They prepared their own hot meals and compared aches and pains, before a night under canvas. For some this was their first experience of camping and they did really well, supporting each other. On the second day groups improved their navigational skills and fantastic team work was displayed. This was a practice event and all was not perfect, however, the girls were all happily reunited with family on Sunday, ready for a well-deserved bath and rest.’
