Dr Goldsmith reports, ‘On Wednesday, Lower Sixth and Fourth Form historians spent the day at the Chalke Valley History Festival, listening to a day of fascinating lectures relating to the various topics we have been studying. The Fourth Form attended lectures on Britain’s development of the jet engine, the origins of the Second World War, and Auschwitz, while the Lower Sixth enjoyed speakers on the Russian Revolution, the Byzantine Empire, US Foreign Policy and the Crusades – and we joined together for a fascinating insight into the witch hunts of the 16th Century. It was a great day learning about new areas of History and reminding ourselves of the things we had already learnt… even in the rain and mud!’
