The opportunities provided are as diverse as the ambitions of our girls. Just about every interest and talent is catered for through an impressive range of over 40 termly clubs and enrichment activities. We have a ‘work hard, play hard’ approach, with plenty of time built into busy lives for friendship, relaxation and fun.
Activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, World Challenge and Young Enterprise are a perfect way to develop resourcefulness and acquire leadership skills which can be transferred to the classroom. From our own local frequency radio station to rock climbing, yoga, silversmithing, Mandarin and debating, there really is something for everyone.
Teamwork is a great strength of the school and sport has a key role to play. Girls are encouraged to get involved and experience the fun and commitment involved in being part of a team. Competition and personal achievement are developed through a wide range of activities. From hockey, netball, tennis, gymnastics and riding, to basketball, rugby, football and athletics, every enthusiasm and level of ability can be met.
To support the development of individual talent we have superb facilities, including a purpose built sports hall, fitness room, tennis courts, heated recreational pool, athletics arena, all weather sports pitch and extensive woodlands.
Our success at regional and national level is impressive. Those with natural athletic ability excel in their chosen sport and we see girls performing at the highest levels in athletics, cross-country running, hockey, netball, swimming, kayaking, sailing, horse riding, climbing and tennis.
Specialist coaching and masterclasses help raise the standard. School teams also take part in sports tours around the UK and in Europe. By creating a wide range of opportunities we support each girl as she develops an interest that will, in turn, lead her to adopt a fit and healthy lifestyle and positive attitude to physical activity.
